Manifesto

Things that I've learned over the past few years of design:

1. Let God work through you. God needs to be incorporated in every project.
2. Sometimes it's good to start off on the computer right away.
3. Take time to rest.
4. Watch a movie during a project or two or three.
5. Try to put a piece of yourself in every project.
6. Find time to sleep.
7. Eat plenty.
8. Get out of your bedroom whenever you can.
9. Get out of your everyday routine.
10. Do everything to the fullest. (Life, Love and Work.)

Chiefs in The Business

Marion Bantjes, Bruce Mau, Stefan Bucher, Stefan Sagmeister

These four designers are designers that continue to shape the world of graphic design.
These four designers are related from the sense that they try to put something of their own into their pieces of work.
They also are at the stage in their lives where they try to do what they want and what pleases them. By choosing which jobs they want to take to what they do on the side of their work.

The main part of these designers philosophies that appeal to me is for me to not become a corporate sell out. I mean there will be times where I will need to work to make some cash like what Marion Bantjes said. I want to be able to do what I love and have people hire me for my uniqueness and hopefully to give me a chance to do my own thing. I am excited to see what the future holds for me as a person and designer. I look forward to being challenged like these four designers listed.

It makes me feel better knowing that I have potentially be the next great designer.
The working world is something that I can't wait to dive into.

Stefan G. Bucher

Dear Mr. Bucher

You are a true inspiration! I love how you pick who and what you want to work on. How do you find working on your own? Are you productive or do you lack that discipline. I love how you put in things that help to represent you. Like the nerd super bowl poster or the monsters.

I like how you said you don't want to be restricted by facts. As well as staring at a wall is your way of working through things.

Mr. Bucher continue to do what you do
You are a true inspiration

Culture & Design

lotto_649_shoe.jpg

Target Market:

Male and Females age 30-55

Cultural Themes:

In a world where everyone wants to get ahead.
People are struggling to retire early.
People don't enjoy their jobs like they used to.

Overal Observation:

This ad gives a sense of hope for people who are currently working.
Thinking that if they win the lottery they will be able to retire,
put away their dress shoes and trade them in for flip flops and go some place warm.
People would give anything just to relax.

Creative Process

When working on a project,

Starting: Take notes, let project sit in my head, listen to music, watch movies and wait for a good idea to come to me.

Process: Dive right in, Google what project is about, look at images that Google comes up with about the search and do some thumbnails.

When Stuck: Take a break, clear my head, listen to music or watch a movie, work on something else and talk to my parents about ideas.

Design is...

A way of creating something that is visually appealing to a target market. Functional.
